Carvana Faces Title And Registration Issues Again, This Time In PA

Posted on

Carvana is in trouble again, this time in the state of Pennsylvania. Online used car retailers have faced a number of regulatory issues in recent months in various states – many of which have come with suspension of their license to sell cars.

Based on Automotive News, Pennsylvania regulators have suspended two Carvana locations – Philadelphia and Bridgeville – from undertaking motor vehicle certification and registration actions. Two Carvana chapters have been added to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s list of suspended issuing agents, effectively barring them from handling issues related to ownership and registration.

However, both of these locations can still sell cars. It is unclear whether they will have ownership and registration issues processed by third-party companies.

According to the list of suspended issuing agents, the suspension stems from multiple violations by both locations. The Carvana Bridgeville branch was cited for various violations, such as not issuing serial number plates and failing to submit the correct paperwork, fees or taxes to regulators within 30 days of issuance.

Meanwhile, the Carvana location in Philadelphia has only one citation, which is for issuing a card or license plate but then submitting documents that are incomplete, invalid, or damaged.

The suspension has an end date of December 28, 2022, according to Automotive News.

This isn’t the first problem Carvana has faced this year. Earlier this year, Carvana faced a class action lawsuit in Pennsylvania for its alleged failure to register the car on time.

In May, the company’s license was suspended in the state of Illinois for failing to issue vehicle certificates, with customers allegedly waiting months before receiving one. The company faced another license suspension in July, just months after the first.

In October, Carvana faced the heat of possibly having its license revoked due to various infractions that had occurred in the state of Michigan.
