Since the end of February we have been grappling with increases in every sector, due to the international crisis unleashed after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine caused by the Russians. As we all know by now, the increase was also recorded in the fuel sector. In fact, the price of petrol and diesel has increased dramatically and only a few government measures have managed to make the situation more sustainable.
The Italian Government, in fact, promptly decided to remove the excise from the cost of petrol and diesel, saving you money about 30 cents a litre at each refueling. Month after month there were different ones extensions and until the end of November the situation will not change.
But what has been decided for December? From the first day of next month there will be a very important news. It will certainly not please many motorists engaged daily on the roads of our country. Indeed, a measure decided by the Council of Ministers will increase the price of diesel and petrol starting from December 1st. But will this measure apply to everyone? Bad news on the fuel front: here’s what was decided
End of the free ride with regard to the drastic cut in excise duties. In fact, from 1 December 2022 the situation will change for a large portion of motorists and motorcyclists in our country. What was decided by the Council of Ministers? Which maneuver was approved? Here are all the details on what will happen starting next week.
From next December 1, the discount on the price of fuel will not be more than 30 cents per liter, but 18.3 cents. A discount on excise duties that will be almost halved compared to what happened in recent months. What are the reasons for this decision?
The decision was taken to give greater support to another serious situation in Italy. In fact, the following decision can be read on the decree law: “Urgent measures on excise duties and VAT on fuels and support for local authorities and territories affected by exceptional weather events”. The money removed from the excise cut, therefore, will be diverted to protect other important aspects.
In addition, 200 million are foreseen to support the Marche region, severely hit by some natural and meteorological events. But what will happen, then, to the price of fuel? How much will the cost per liter of petrol and diesel be?
According to last week’s price list, with the discount reduction we just saw, the price of diesel and petrol could go up exponentially. In fact, in self-service mode, petrol will reach 1.88 euros per litre. The price of dieselon the other hand, could exceed the 2 euro threshold, settling on 2.015 euros per litre.
This decision taken by the Council of Ministers, however, will not apply to everyone. Indeed, hauliers will still be able to benefit from the normal discount of the last few months, being part of a completely different tax regime compared to that of other motorists.
Codacons has declared itself in open contrast with the measure implemented by the Government. In fact, the price increases will exceed 6% compared to the last period, something considered unacceptable and very serious.
