Driving a car in heels or boots isn’t easy, for many women it’s a feat, for others it’s very simple. But you may find yourself in the position of having to do so and therefore it is good to be informed about what the law says.
There are women who for work they wear boots and high heels every day, so they’re used to driving like this.
And then there are others who find themselves in this situation by force of circumstances, not having the time to change clothes, they can do nothing but experience driving with high heeled boots.
The question that all of them are asked at least once out of 10 is: it can be done? Can they apply penalties for driving with inadequate footwear at a checkpoint?
What to do if you wear boots and are afraid of penalties
It happens to leave the house in a hurry for an event and to be dressed in everything, for example, one may not have the desire, nor the time to change shoes or to carry the change with one. So why not try driving in boots or pumps?
At most, we are reassured by thinking that they can simply be removed to drive barefoot directly. But when the Carabinieri and the Police stop, what happens? Can they apply penalties or do you have the right to drive with any footwear or even without?
What does the highway code say about driving in boots or high-heeled shoes?
The Highway Code has no restrictions on the use of boots or high heels while driving. So all women can drive in heels, slippers, barefoot, with flats, with amphibians without problems and without any fear.
Of course, driving must take place in safe conditions, such as when driving in trainers. If the police realize that the person who is driving a particular car proceeds in the middle of traffic going zigzag, they will probably stop the vehicle.
If the driver is wearing high-heeled boots, this can have consequences because obviously it is understood that the cause of dangerous driving for oneself and for others is uncomfortable driving.
If, on the other hand, you are stopped at the checkpoint only for a routine check, with a proper guide, the agents absolutely cannot sanction the driver of the vehicle, because he has not committed any crime.
If you ride with a 12 heel you have to pay attention to the mat, that it is spread out well so that it cannot get distracted or pinched while driving. Then you have to adjust the seat to the right distance, adjust the rear view mirror etc.
