Fiat 600 And Multipla Are Reportedly Coming Back As Small Crossovers

Fiat has a strong presence in Latin America with several models not offered in Europe, such as the Argo, Cronos or Pulse. Except for the 500 mains, the ranks of the companies in the Old Continent were getting longer and longer. The petrol-powered, previous-generation 500 along with the Panda are aging products while the Tipo has always been a cheaper alternative to the VW Golf and other compact cars. Fortunately, a new car may be on the way.

Reports from Italy suggest Fiat’s lineup will expand in the coming years, starting in 2023 with the return of the 600. Speculative provided by Motor1.com, the model is formed into a subcompact crossover about four meters long. It is said to use the second-generation CMP platform and offer petrol (Peugeot’s Puretech) and hybrid powertrains alongside a pure EV setup. It will allegedly enter production in the second half of next year in Poland.

More fresh metal will arrive in 2024 with the larger, next-gen Panda set to be sold exclusively as an EV on a low-cost CMP platform. It will coexist peacefully with the current model until 2026 when Fiat plans to discontinue the hybrid model. The same architecture that underlies the new Panda could also be used for the surprise return of Multipla, but this time, it’ll be an electric crossover that’s likely the next Panda.

The reborn Multipla is said to indirectly replace the 500X and Tipo, both of which could be retired in 2024. Take these details with a pinch of salt but Fiat will have to work on a new product if it is to remain relevant in its European homeland. For what it’s worth, a spy photo of a camouflaged 600 prototype was published on social media earlier this month.

Another fabled name destined to return is Topolino in 2023 as a rebadged version of the Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks-e four-wheeler.
