New television adventure for five-time world champion Jorge Lorenzo. In Spain, and elsewhere, he is becoming a star.
Jorge Lorenzo has left the world championship of MotoGP at the end of 2019, after a difficult season astride Honda, punctuated by injuries and uninspiring results. On the occasion of the last Valencia Grand Prix he announced his farewell with a press conference in the presence of Carmelo EzpeletaCEO of Dorna, canceling the contract signed with HCR one year before the deadline.
He tried to stay glued to the MotoGP paddock, signing a one-year contract as a test rider Yamaha, a brand that allowed him to confirm his three-time world champion in the premier class. Partly the events linked to the pandemic, partly for other reasons, the relationship with the Iwata manufacturer soon stalled, reducing itself to a few laps on the track, definitively closing the experience in MotoGP. Soon the five-time Majorcan champion followed another path: travel, luxury, four wheels and TV appearances.

Less than two years ago we saw Jorge Lorenzo try your hand as a singer with some songs by Eros Ramazzotti, in the “Mask Singer” program, even reaching the final. In recent days he has revealed that he will take part in a new television format broadcast on Antena 3, ‘El Desafìo’, now in its third edition after having enjoyed some success in the previous series, with a following of over 2 million viewers per episode.
Competitors will have to try their hand at physical and mental tests, such as a freediving competition, supported by experts of the single disciplines. The episodes will be broadcast early next year, but recordings already started in October. We also recall that Jorge Lorenzo from the beginning of 2022 has signed a contract with Dazn as a TV commentator for the MotoGP World Championship, following various Grands Prix on the field around Europe. Experience that he will share once again with other champions of the caliber of Carlos Checa, Alex Crivillé and Dani Pedrosa.
From this year he has also embarked on a new professional chapter on four wheels, participating in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy with Team Q8 Hi-Perform, at the wheel of a Porsche 992 GT3. Discreet results for the former MotoGP class rider who however promises to improve himself again next season.
