The Audi A6 E-Tron is entering the final stages of its development. The German automaker is currently in Scandinavia conducting winter tests of the electric vehicle, which should debut in final form towards the end of next year. You won’t have to wait 10 to 12 months to see the final design, however, as a series of new renderings give a pretty accurate picture of what to expect from this zero-emissions sedan from Ingolstadt.
Our photographers in Sweden captured the A6 E-Tron prototype earlier this week and our colleagues at Kolesa.ru generate new exclusive digital images based on those shots. The test vehicle was covered in full-body camouflage, although certain design elements were already visible. Plus, the A6 E-Tron concept gives us a pretty good idea of what the overall style will be like.
However, this isn’t the first rendering of the model. Back in April this year, the same artist envisioned the A6’s electric sibling for the first time and this new interpretation looks sleeker and sleeker. There are changes to the front fascia and overall profile, as well as a new set of aerodynamically optimized wheels. Overall, it looks like a very sleek and stylish sedan ready for the EV era.
From what we know so far, the A6 E-Tron will use the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which will be shared with the next generation Porsche Macan that will go electric. The exact specifications of the A6’s electric powertrain remain a mystery for now, although the concept features a dual-motor system with a peak output of 470 horsepower (350 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters). If the production model offers a performance figure close to that number, the A6 E-Tron should be one of Audi’s strongest sedans.
While the development and testing procedures for the new model are in advanced stages, we believe Audi will need at least a few more months until the product is ready to be launched into the market. Don’t expect to see him undisguised before next summer.
