The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is all-wheel drive, but it’s still no problem spinning its Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires into oblivion. If you needed a reminder of that, Bugatti sent one of its engineers out onto a wide-open stretch of asphalt with the Pur Sport and a simple mission: get the hell out of it.
Actually, there’s a little more to the story than that. Production of the Pur Sport continues (albeit slowly) with only 60 units planned for the global market. Bugatti had reached halfway with the Pur Sport, and to celebrate, a very expensive set of tires was sacrificed to the horsepower gods. This wasn’t just a reckless act of recklessness – the four-wheel drift was orchestrated in such a way as to leave a giant rubber C stuck to the pavement.

You might think C stands for Chiron, and you’d be partly right. It’s also an ode to the Chiron’s exterior design language, which incorporates the large C shape of the A-pillars and roofline, dropping sideways and dipping forward to end at the base of the front wheel arch. Bugatti calls it the C-line, and while it’s prevalent on all editions of the Chiron, the Pur Sport has the distinction of being the nimblest of them all. Hence another reason why it is called for drifting duties.
Even with 1,479 horsepower coming from its quad-turbo W16 engine, pulling off sharp four-wheel drifts to instill C-force in the ground isn’t easy. Four smoked tires mean there’s little grip on the ground, and it requires the right combination of steering and throttle inputs to control something most people would consider out of control. A little moisture on the surface helped the situation, but as the video clearly shows, Pur Sport and its driver managed to celebrate the arrival of car number 30.
“The Pur Sport has become a customer favorite for its focused performance and pristine driving characteristics. It is only fitting that the Pur Sport be the chosen Chiron model to honor our iconic signature line with this ambitious C-Drift,” said Bugatti President Christophe Piochon.
