Ram was the last major automaker from Detroit to add an electric pickup truck to its internal combustion lineup. Or rather, when the production version of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept became a reality. But before that could happen, we need to look at the concept.
To hold you back until the concept debuts, we created an exclusive rendering based on the large number of teaser images released from Ram over the past year. In fact, the latest teaser from Dec. 6 played a key role in capturing some last-minute details for our unofficial interpretation front. It’s important to note that we’re taking creative liberty here, as the teasers have so far been sparse with content. But when the lid lifts, we expect to see something similar to this.
What does it look like?

The earliest sketches from 2021 show a futuristic truck with tilted C-pillars at the rear of the cab, and narrow headlights mounted over a large lower fascia at the front. The design has evolved since then, with the headlights surrounded by a daytime running LED strip adopting a similar look to the current Ram 1500. The RAM’s bold branding amidst the rugged grille lights up, and while there’s no engine to feed it, the front of the truck should maintain a beefy, bulky appearance.
Further back, sharply creased body lines adorn the fenders and bedside. The concept will feature a small camera for the side mirrors, and the latest teaser shows black A-pillars with a black roof and black dome on the hood. Similar to the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the cabin sits further forward with a shorter front clip. The slanted C-pillars are still there, although the angles are not as sharp.
What’s Under the Tarpaulin?
You won’t find the Hemi among the fenders, or any internal combustion engine. That space will most likely be used for storage, unless Ram thinks of something interesting. Given the truck’s utilitarian nature, it’s highly unlikely the Ram will simply shut it down like the Mercedes EQC.
Of course, Under the tent is a reference to the powertrain and on that front, there isn’t much to it other than electric. A dual motor setup is possible, although given the Ram’s penchant for power a tri motor design could also be offered. In comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning produces up to 580 horsepower (433 kilowatts), and the Chevrolet Silverado EV reaches 754 hp (562 kW) in top trim. Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. previously said the Ram Revolution would outperform its competitors in areas such as towing and hauling. As such, it’s reasonable to expect power output similar to that of the Ford and Chevy EVs, if not more.
Revolution Ram is rumored to use the STLA Stellantis architecture. It’s a scalable platform that holds the battery well enough for a 500 mile range. We’ve yet to hear whether such a battery will be offered in the truck, but we do know Ram has promised to fill it with all kinds of high-tech tech.
When Will We See It?
Ram has confirmed that the 1500 Revolution BEV concept will debut on January 5, 2023 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It’s billed as a near-production concept, and while there’s no word on exactly when the production trucks will arrive, Ram has mentioned 2024 on numerous occasions.
How much does it cost?
When Ford unveiled the F-150 Lightning, the company highlighted a base price of just under $40,000 but has since increased to almost $50,000. The Silverado EV currently advertises a base price of around $40,000 although it will go up to $100,000 in RST trim. Lighting also tops six figures in maximum trim. It’s unlikely the Ram will name a price point when the concept debuts, but production trim levels should be priced in line with their cross-town rivals.
