Audi Activesphere Concept Teaser Shows Roof and Interior, Debut Jan. 26

Instead of unveiling one concept vehicle featuring future design ideas, Audi is presenting four. We’ve seen three, and now we know when the final “ball” concept will debut. Mark your calendars, because January 26 is the last day we’ll get a look at the Audi Activesphere coupe-SUV concept.

Until then, we’ll have to make do with a new teaser image showing the vehicle mostly covered in darkness. Adjusted light levels of the photo offer a better view, capturing the swooping roofline and widened fenders of this active lifestyle concept as viewed from above. We can see the stylized aft deck and skylight, which also provide a glimpse inside. There aren’t any details to go into, but no matter what’s going on in the cabin, passengers are going to be looking red.

The automaker says the concept is an expression of “ultimate freedom” for people who enjoy the outdoors. Its sleek, sporty shape is matched by extreme off-road capability thanks to a raised suspension and aggressive all-terrain tires. Like previous concepts in the series, this is an all-electric machine. Although at the moment Audi is not detailing powertrain details.

Our first Activesphere flavor will be in August. Audi offers a three-quarter front view of the concept shrouded in shadow. Like the new teaser, we digitally lifted some of the veil with a bit of light manipulation to better understand the automaker’s design direction.

Audi’s concept lineup kicks off with the debut of the Skysphere in August 2021. As the name suggests, this is a two-door, roofless EV sports car with a long hood and adjustable wheelbase designed for comfortable touring, and corner-carving fun. The Grandsphere concept follows in September 2021, sharing some of the Skysphere’s design features wrapped in an elegant electric sedan that Audi describes as a “private jet for the road”. It took another few months for the Urbansphere to debut, but it offered a very different vision in minivan form with a very large cabin.

The Activesphere concept will debut on January 26 as part of Audi’s “Celebration of Progress,” though we’ll likely see more teasers leading up to the big reveal.
