In May 2014, Lamborghini donated the Huracan to the Italian State Police before repeating the same generous gift three years later. This second car just completed an important mission by transporting two kidneys to patients in a hospital from hundreds of miles away. On its official social media channels, the local authority shared images of how police and medical crews made use of the supercar’s small cargo area.
Traveling from Padua in northern Italy, the naturally aspirated V10 engine stopped first after about 168 kilometers (104 miles) to deliver one of the kidneys to a hospital in Modena. Huracan continues his journey to Rome where another patient is awaiting a kidney transplant. Therefore, it covered an additional 401 kilometers (249 mi).

A message posted on Facebook and Twitter by Italian State Police says:
“Traveling the highways to deliver the most beautiful Christmas gift: life. Thanks to a special Santa Claus State Police, two people were awarded a kidney. The organs were delivered by a police officer from the highway police who, in a Lamborghini Huracan, gave birth to two kidneys in the Modena and Rome hospitals.”
The adjacent image shows how even a small trunk like the Huracan, at just 3.5 cubic feet or 100 liters, can accommodate a cooler with two kidneys. It’s refreshing to see a mid-engine used properly the way Lamborghini intended it when donating the car a few years ago.
As well as the typical police car livery and roof lights, the car also features an onboard defibrillator and recording equipment with video cameras to monitor what the police are doing.
