An IMSA-spec race car listed for sale is a rare sight, especially if it was auctioned the same year bringing home the win. However, this is where we discuss Acura’s race car failing to live up to its reserve price Bring Trailers.
We are talking about chassis no. 7 Acura ARX-05 DPi – Daytona international race car IMSA-spec prototype built by Wayne Taylor Racing in December 2021. Its first race is the Rolex 24 this year at Daytona and is campaigning in 10 races during the 2022 season.

Finished in black, silver, and blue #10 Konica Minolta livery over an ORECA made carbon fiber monocoque, this race car has had a successful motorsports career. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter AR35TT V6 engine paired to a paddle-shifted six-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox, producing 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). That, plus much more equipment specifically used for motor sports.
This chassis number. 7 Acura ARX-05 DPi established pole positions at Daytona, Laguna Seca, and Road America, while wins at Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, and Road America. The electrified Acura ARX-06 has a hefty pair of boots to fill, we think.
That said, the ARX-05 DPi race car had a short but illustrious career, so seeing it sold this quickly by Honda Performance Development piques our interest. And then there’s the price discussion.
That Bring Trailers the auction had ended at the time of this writing. The top bid was $563,000 but not surprisingly, that didn’t meet the reserve amount for the race car. However, Honda Performance Development commented on the thread, saying that it is already “in discussions with the highest bidder to determine if a deal can be reached for this fantastic car.”
