Controls throughout Europe on trucks
THE checks on trucks are taking place all over Europe, because the police forces verify if a certain device, required by law, is present in the vehicle. The Traffic Police and the other police forces do not hesitate to issue hefty fines to drivers who do not have them.
Who puts on driving a truck must be familiar with the laws in force, otherwise you risk incurring very high fines. What’s more, if an accident happens, and you don’t have this device, the troubles are even greater.
Indeed, thanks to this device it is possible to understand how the accident happened and ascertain whether the truck driver was responsible for causing it.
The truck tachograph must no longer be missing
The truck tachograph is a kind of black box containing information about the driving, operation and telemetry of the vehicle. It is generally installed on heavy vehicles, which have a mass of over 3.5 tons or on buses that have to travel long distances, such as over 100 km.
Since 2006 this device is mandatory to have in the truck, but today it is obviously even more advanced and avant-garde. In fact, it is present in the digital version and allows you to establish whether the driver has made the parking hours required by law, or if he has driven while drowsy or drunk.
Failure to comply with this rule goes against what is stated in article 179 of the Highway Code and is subject to a fine ranging from 849 euros to 3,396 eurosbased on the seriousness of the infringement. Also, if the tachograph has been altered, the fine can reach 6,000 euros and the license is suspended for three months.
