Do you have brake disc problems and would you like to avoid changing them? Here’s the trick to avoid spending money and get it working again!
A fundamental element of the car are the brakes, which as you well know are subject to wear and tear and need to be changed over time. However, changing the brake discs is not difficult to do and if you have a little dexterity you can do it without problems and save money. Here’s what you need to do!
Raise the vehicle and remove the wheels
The first thing you need to do is lift the car using a lift, more suitable tool than the classic jack which requires more time and a lot of effort. You have to first remove the wheels from the carcarrying out the operation as when changing a wheel.
After removing the wheels you will see the brake caliper, bolted and lined with dust caps. Take these caps off using a ring spanner and remove the bolts holding the brake caliper. At the same time, with a suitable tool he turns the brake caliper counterclockwise.
Be careful because, if it is a new generation car, removing the caliper could cause problems with the electronic components. Take care to activate the electric parking brake in parking mode.
Remove the pads and fit the new discs
Now remove the pads and loosen the clamps to access the brake discs. During the replacement, take care to clean the braking system components to ensure that the brakes work better.
Clean the brake caliper and pads thoroughly with a wire brush, or use a special cleaner. From now on you can proceed to fit the disc and pads. Insert the new brake discs into the wheel hub and clip the pads to the brake holders, but not before lubricating them at the rear.
The lubricant allows these components to move better and avoids friction. After installing the mounts, also install the pads, putting them on the outside of the caliper, where there is a bracket.
After inserting them, slide the brake shoe holder and the lining over the brake disc. In the end, lubricate the bolts of the supports and fix them with an Allen key, and finish by fitting the brake caliper caps and clip.
