The unfortunate accident occurred earlier this week involving a silver Toyota sedan and a 77 year old man. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but the Montgomery County car wash is sure to need serious reconstruction in the coming weeks. Security cameras caught the breakdown and you can watch the video at the top of this page.
According to local officials, the man accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake, and his Toyota sped into a car wash and flipped inside the building. As a result of the accident that occurred at around 14:30 WIB at Wave Car Wash located at block 200 Bethlehem Pike in Colmar, the driver remained trapped in the car for about an hour and a half before emergency services rescued him. .
Report from 6abc.com said the accident victim was immediately taken to a local hospital with an injured leg, although his overall condition is stable and safe. The same probably can’t be said of Toyota, which suffered serious damage to the right front fender and may be written off completely. Meanwhile, Darin Kapanjie, the owner of the car wash, released a statement regarding his business situation.
“We are relieved no one was seriously injured. This was a very unfortunate accident for our customers, and our equipment. Being a small business owner isn’t easy, accidents like this don’t make it any easier. But hey, we have a strong customer base. extraordinary people who are committed to us as much as we are committed to them.”
Another video (attached above) shows a car being pulled from a car wash with its roof cut off to make room for rescuers to free the driver. Hatfield Township fire marshals reportedly alerted 6abc.com this was the first time he had responded to a call like this in his entire life. We are glad everyone is healthy and wish the driver a speedy recovery.
