Many motorists make themselves the protagonists of some gestures every day that can cost a lot. Sometimes it can happen, completely unconsciously, that you put the safety of other users on the road at risk. If you commit some infractions, you face the possibility of suffering very heavy penalties. But what if you make a particular mistake? Here’s everything you need to know about it.
There are many mistakes – voluntary and non-voluntary – that can be committed when you are behind the wheel of your car. Often times, infractions do not cause particular damage to others. Other times, however, they can be done errors really heavy, which can jeopardize our safety and that of other road users.
Respect for the rules is the basis of the correct way of “experience” the road when you are on board your vehicle. The Traffic laws inform everyone on the right moves to make and on what is absolutely forbidden. Those who break the rules can therefore be subject to very heavy fines. The more serious and dangerous the mistake committed, the greater will be – obviously – the consequences and the money to be paid.
Often times we become the protagonists of gestures that, apparently, may seem harmless or not very serious. In reality, everyone’s safety is jeopardized and not only. Everyone at least once in their life made the mistake that we are going to describe now. What are we referring to? Here’s everything you need to know about this move you’ll NEVER have to make again.
The mistake that can cost you dearly: here’s what you absolutely must avoid
The move that is absolutely prohibited by the Highway Code is to throw handkerchiefs, waste, cigarette butts and more out of the window. And this is true both if the car is stationary and if it is running. Obviously, throwing something out the window with the car in motion greatly increases the danger to other motorists circulating at that precise moment. But what fine can you incur if you are “caught” making this move?
In addition to the danger of the gesture, throwing garbage, litter or anything else from the window of your car is something that shows great incivility in those who perform such gestures. Respecting the environment is the move we always recommend in every area and situation.
Article 15 of the Highway Code expressly forbids “deposit waste or materials of any kind, dirty and soil the road and its appurtenances” and of “dirty the road or its appurtenances by throwing rubbish or objects from parked or moving vehicles”.
Therefore, throwing any object from stationary or running vehicles is expressly prohibited by road regulations. It is not just an act of incivility, but a real traffic offence.
But what a fine you risk if you are caught doing this gesture of little respect for road safety and the environment in general? The sanction that is imposed on anyone who becomes the protagonist of such an action can go from a minimum of 106 euros up to a maximum of 422 euros.
The police forces who ascertain the fact do not always have the possibility to instantly fine the offender. The report, therefore, can arrive at home within 3 months of the infringement committed.
Fortunately, in recent years people have more at heart the fate of our planet. Respect for the environment, therefore, is a topic most considered by public opinion. Unfortunately, however, there are still many uncivilized people, with no respect for the environment and for others.
