In Italy, those who own a car before putting it on the road must pay attention to some requirements that must be respected because if you do not respect all the rules of the Highway Code you can be punished very seriously.
Highway Code, that’s what it’s for
The highway code regulates the circulation of both motorized and non-motorized vehicles, therefore both cars, heavy vehicles, pedestrians or bicycles. What documents should you always carry with you?
The driving license is the first document that absolutely cannot be missing, then you must have the paid car tax with you, the insurance and finally the last revision carried out within the deadlines.
Unfortunately, many people forget or purposely leave some of these documents at home thinking they are unnecessary. Actually they all are. The driving licence, for obvious reasons, must also be valid, therefore renewed, etc.
As for the car tax, you must have it with you because this proves that you own the car. With insurance, which is mandatory, however, you are safe from any problem in case of accidents.
Finally, with the inspection it is shown that the car is in a condition to be able to circulate because it was evaluated by the mechanic who deemed it safe. Those who do not show the required documents to the police controlrisk high fines ranging from 168 to €674.
If the inspection has not been carried out or if the car has not passed the last check, the fine can range from 1914 euros to €7767. For all these reasons it is good not to play with fire and always behave properly unless you want to get in trouble with the law.
