Toyota Teases Large Exhibition Space For Tokyo Motor Show

Toyota is gearing up for a big presence at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, which runs from January 13 to 15. The company didn’t specifically announce what it plans to show at the show, but the automaker did drop some hints.

Tokyo Gazoo Racing and Lexus will launch a concept car that will show how people will “continue to drive their beloved cars forever while dealing with the problem of reducing CO2 emissions,” according to the brand’s announcement.

The automaker is even more mysterious about the other two disclosures:

“We will be announcing a product to commemorate winning the WRC Driver’s Title. Additionally, we will be announcing a product that leverages the knowledge gained by participating in WRCs, and will be conducting demos on January 14 and 15.”

The Toyota showroom at the event will include several customized vehicles. Judging by the automaker’s room pictures, there will be quite a number of race cars in there too. The Gazoo Racing division will showcase new parts to be launched in 2023.

The automaker’s press conference will be held at 9:30 a.m. local time on January 13. Speakers will include company president Akio Toyoda and professional racers.

People who can’t visit the Tokyo Auto Salon in the real world can check out the Toyota showroom in the metaverse. Starting January 13, space can be explored virtually via the Cluster app.

Toyota Industries Corporation has announced three examples of the RAV4 PHEV customized for the event. There’s the rugged Offroad Package with Yakima roof rack, side gas cans near the hatchback, front fascia with integrated fog lights, and black wheels with red mud flaps behind them. The Adventure has a tweaked nose, and the Sport Package has a trapezoidal opening up front and body-colored side sills.

Tuner Tom’s Racing also has a few Toyotas to bring to the show. Century looks sporty wearing BBS wheels. The Supra gets a wide body kit and an upgraded turbo. The GR86 gets a turbocharged powerplant. The Lexus LC500 Convertible received a widebody kit, chassis struts, modified suspension and 21-inch wheels.
