Kia EV6 GT Quietly Sets Fire on the Nurburgring In Onboard Hot Lap Video

At this point it should have been established that the Kia EV6 GT is a fast and furious car. That’s especially important given the price tag.

We’ve seen the EV6 GT reach (and exceed) its top speed on previously unrestricted sections of the Autobahn. We’ve even seen the electric hatchback drag race with the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (and only lose by a full second). But how did it perform at licking Germany’s dreaded Nurburgring?

To answer that, YouTuber L’argus recently put out an onboard video of a hot lap using the EV6 GT. We’ve embedded a video at the top of this page for you to enjoy.

The Kia EV6 GT was over 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) for most of the hot laps. There are instances of flat sprints, however, where the modest hatchback uses instant torque and reaches 140 mph (225 km/h).

Of note, the EV6 GT produces a total output of 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 546 pound-feet (740 Newton-meters) of torque from an ensemble of two electric motors. It’s been quite competitive in the sporty EV realm, finishing third in battle against the Tesla Model 3, Model X, Audi E-Tron GT and BMW iX.

Perhaps the most appealing part of this Nurburgring hot lap with the Kia EV6 GT was how quiet it was running. The only sounds you can hear are the screeching tires, the loud atmosphere in the cabin, and es-fi-esque sound is produced when the EV accelerates hard. As if the car was ready to take off.

The question now is how fast is the Nurburgring hot lap? Is it faster than Tesla Model 3 Performance? We don’t know for sure and admittedly, it’s not the perfect one. However, the drivers are skilled enough to bring the fun inside the Kia. That’s pretty impressive if you ask us.
