The car inspection is always mandatory, by law every 2 years. The appointed workshop must carry out some checks on the mechanical and functional parts of the vehicle, to guarantee its efficiency and safety on the road.
When the vehicle is registered, therefore it is new, it is overhauled after 4 years, after these 4 years the cadence is biennial.

What is checked during the car review
First of all, the chassis number is checked, then the license plate, to identify the vehicle. Finally, the wheels and tires are checked, the tread must not be worn and the tires must be inflated to the correct pressure. Beyond these checks, the reviewer focuses on the suspension and transmission, then on the steering, on the lights that are fine-tuned should there be something wrong. Then you check for example the efficiency of the high beams, the low beams, the acoustic signals, the windscreen wipers.
Finally it is checked if the vehicle has the mandatory equipmentor the jack, the key, the wheels, the reflective vest that is needed in case of problems with the vehicle or an accident and finally the triangle.
What happens if the vehicle fails the MOT
If the car does not pass the MOT on the first attempt, it can be resubmitted within a month, fixing what cannot be accepted under those conditions. Meanwhile it can circulate without problems with a certificate. Obviously only if the problems encountered are minor.
Or it may happen that the vehicle is suspended from circulation until the second check or otherwise until the review is passed. An extraordinary inspection of the vehicle involved in a road accident can be requested directly by the Police bodies, if this were to report significant damage to the safety system.
