Porsche is readying a revamped 911, and new spy photos capture the coupe’s cold weather testing once again. The sheer camouflage covering the car is hard to see, but the automaker has hidden some restyling underneath.
The car did not receive a substantial restyling, but it did have a few new design features that the Porsche public didn’t want the public to see. At the front, the intake bumper featured active vertical slats, something seen on other test vehicles. This provides cooling to the radiator when it is open and better aerodynamics when it is closed. Camouflage also covers the headlight units, distorting their design and the daytime running lights.

We suspect Porsche made major changes to the rear bumper, which is hidden from view. However, we can see two circular exhaust pipes poking out at the back. The automaker also hid the engine cowl, though the overall design isn’t that far off from today’s cars. The 911 features an iconic design that is challenging to change.
Previous spy photos provide a glimpse of the 911’s interior. The automaker is hiding most of it from view, but the photos reveal that the model will receive a new digital instrument cluster. Even the previous spy shots capture more of the cabin, which looks very similar to the current model, including the center console and infotainment screen.
Information about the 911’s powertrain options remains largely a mystery. We know Porsche is developing a hybrid variant that will focus on performance rather than efficiency. Porsche chairman Oliver Blume described it as “very sporty”, It should be an excellent competitor to the new hybrid Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, featuring all-wheel drive for the first time. Rumors continued to suggest that Porsche would replace the 911 to use the naturally aspirated engine, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
We don’t know when Porsche plans to reveal the new 911, but it will be this year. Expect the entry-level 911 Carrera to debut ahead of the launch of the remaining variants, which will also receive new styling tweaks. We may see the debut of the Turbo trim before the GT3, with other variants appearing alongside it.
