The BMW X6 is a stylish luxury crossover in its basic form and experiences the Nurburgring while wearing a full-fat M suit. Among these is the X6 M50i, a powerful middle child capable of devouring miles of the Autobahn at triple-digit speeds without breaking a sweat.
But the X6 in the video above is not in stock form. It features a pair of Pureturbos turbochargers added to the 4.4-liter V8 engine, not that the stock X6 M50i is slow by most measurements. The machine produced 530 horsepower (395 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters) of torque as it rolled off the assembly line. However, the version tuned in the new video from AutoTopNL makes 670 hp (500 kW) and 689 lb-ft (935 Nm) of torque. That’s even more than the X6 M Competition, which produced 617 hp (454 kW).

This extra power lowers the time it takes for the crossover to sprint from zero to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from 4.3 seconds to 3.6 seconds. Top speed increased from 155 mph (250 kph) to over 186 mph (300 kph). The video doesn’t detail all of the other crossover upgrades.
While it can reach 186 mph, it doesn’t reach that speed in the video – but it comes close. Other cars on the road limit the driver’s ability to get the X6 to its maximum speed, often having to slow down traffic just before it reaches it. However, the crossover clocked in at 180 mph (289 kph) during one of the final laps, which was impressive but well below the claimed top speed.
The revamped X6 currently in development may arrive with some powertrain upgrades that could boost output across the model range, but the redesign is still a mid-cycle refresh. Updates from BMW should include a revamped front fascia and tweaks to the cabin, with electrification and other changes expected under the hood across the model range. The X6 should remain a capable Autobahn cruiser for the foreseeable future, and if you need more power, Pureturbos has an upgrade for you.
