Pecco Bagnaia will race with number 1 in the 2023 MotoGP season. The goal is to repeat the feat of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez.
After a winter of reflections and second thoughts, Pecco Bagnaia has chosen to apply the number 1 on the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 with which he will attempt an encore in the MotoGP World Championship. His #63 will continue to be shown on the helmet, so as not to forget his sketch, but the occasion is too tempting to celebrate the great success of the Italian brand, absolute master in the 2022 season both in the premier class and in Superbike.
Attention is now focused on the reconfirmation of the world championship, not an easy undertaking according to the statistics. Win two consecutive championships in MotoGP only a few legends of the two wheels have succeeded, such as Valentino Rossi And Marc Marquez. On his side, a bike that seems to have carved out a clear technical gap from its rivals, but every year is a different story and we will also have to deal with the unknown factor of sprint races. With 21 GPs and 42 races there will be many variables at play: more commitment and stress for riders and teams, greater risk of injury. Not to mention increasingly fierce competition.
Pecco Bagnaia and Ducati… the dream continues
Being world champion hasn’t changed much in his life I’m sorry Bagnaia, apart from the greater warmth of the fans. “It’s nice to have this popularity, even if I want to stay the same, I don’t feel changed. I’d say I’m more complete, with a different conscience, but that’s still me“, he told the media after the official presentation of the Ducati 2023 team and the new liveries. He doesn’t even change the mentality to face the next challenge, if not by treasuring past mistakes.
The 2022 season had not started in the best way, the direct opponent had accumulated a 91-point lead in the standings, taking advantage of the technical problems of the Ducati in the initial stages and a few too many mistakes by the driver from Chivasso. “I learned so much from last year’s mistakes. We will have a bike similar to the one in 2022, so we will be able to get off to a good start. There will also be a different format, but I’m sure that if we work well, we will continue“.
Pecco Bagnaia restarts with the awareness of having the best MotoGP prototype available. In the Valencia test on 8 November he immediately had excellent impressions with the Desmosedici GP23, but more updates will come in the next tests in Malaysia and Portugal. “I have the best bike and the best team to be able to aim high also in 2023. Thanks again to all Ducati and to my team! I am ready to resume our adventure together“.
