Lamborghini isn’t shy about electrifying its lineup in 2024. The company’s plans include adding a hybrid system to its Urus SUV. We’ve previously spied PHEV testing on a number of occasions, but a new video from the YouTube channel Varryx captures the Urus operating silently in its electric mode. The usual raspy SUV notes are completely absent as the car drives away.
Recent rumors suggest that Lamborghini will embed a Porsche powertrain into the Urus hybrid. The automaker will allegedly use a version of Porsche’s LK5 engine. It powers the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, pairing a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and electric motors that produce a combined 689 horsepower (513 kilowatts). However, the Urus is expected to produce more than that, likely producing around 820 hp (612 kW).

While Porsche’s 689 hp may seem like a lot for the Urus, it’s only slightly more than the Urus Performante’s 666 hp (496 kW). The Urus PHEV should sit above the Performante in the lineup, meaning it will need to generate more power to justify its position and to offset the added weight of the hybrid system. According to the US EPA, Porsche’s 17.9 kilowatt-hour battery pack provides the sedan with a range of 17 miles (27 kilometers).
Lamborghini let the Urus out for some testing without the camouflage, revealing tweaked front and rear fascias. The front uses a new design with a modified front bumper and air openings, while the rear bumper gets a slight restyle. Lamborghini can offer a unique choice of SUV wheels and colors when it hits the showroom floor.
Lamborghini hasn’t said when we might see the debut of the Urus PHEV; However, it must be sold before the end of the year. Lamborghini has a lot of work left to achieve its goal of an all-electric lineup by 2024. The successor to the Aventador will also debut this year, pairing the V12 with an electric motor, while the Huracan will swap the naturally aspirated V10 for an electrified V8.
