Chiron was a success for Bugatti. The French automaker has sold all 500 build slots for its models and variants. Now, even the pre-series model, the one-off Chiron Profile is on sale – and it’s a very, very pretty price.
In an auction held in France, the The Bugatti Chiron Profile sells for 9,792,500 euros or $10,761,223 at the current exchange rate. This price does not include VAT, which will bring the price to 12 million euros or just over $13 million. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac claims that this car now holds the world record for being the most expensive new car sold at auction.
The Bugatti Chiron Profile bridges the gap between the regular Chiron and the Chiron Pur Sport. Development on it began in 2020, but even though Bugatti knew it was not intended to be a series vehicle, the automaker went ahead and completed the project.
Powered by Bugatti’s quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Chiron Profile produces an impressive 1,476 horsepower (1,100 kilowatts). This monster of a hypercar boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 62 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) in just 2.3 seconds. It could reach a top speed of 236 mph (380 km/h) and featured stiffer springs and a rear axle with higher negative camber compared to the Pur Sport.
The Chiron Profile also boasts a unique design, featuring larger air intakes at the front, a redesigned front splitter that increases front axle downforce, and an enlarged horseshoe grille. The car body is finished in Bleu Royal Carbon, with exposed carbon fiber, while the wheels are uniquely painted to distinguish it from other Chirons. The interior of the car was trimmed with more than 8,200 feet (2,500 meters) of leather strips, creating a woven leather finish.
For the record, the Chiron Profile is as exclusive as the La Voiture Noire but perhaps even more special in that it is the latest Bugatti to be equipped with a W16 engine.
