Skoda Enyaq RS iV, the Bohemian manufacturer’s electric sports SUV, has set two Guinness world records by achieving a unique and spectacular feat.
Compared to the traditional version, the Enyaq RS iV has a lowered stance of 15 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear. With a power of 220 kW (299 hp) and an 82 kWh battery powering two electric motors can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control, progressive steering and Drive Mode Select, they allow for optimized traction. It can be recharged quickly in direct current, reaching a 80% charge in just 36 minutes.
The brand of Volkswagen Group achieved a historic feat by setting two world records in drifting on ice with this magnificent car 100% electric. The records for the “Longer, more uninterrupted drift than a vehicle on ice” and for the “Longest continuous drift of an electric vehicle on ice”. At the wheel the journalist Richard Meaden on a track 188.496 m in circumference on the frozen lake Stortjärnen in Sweden.

The new Guinness Book of Records obtained with the SUVs presented at the end of 2022 has been certified. The driver managed to keep the car in a controlled drift for over 15 minutes and covered a total of 7.351km, beating the previous record set last year in China (6.23km). The company has allowed us to hit a double record as it is an electric vehicle.
There Skoda Enyaq RS iV has reached this important milestone after several tests with different tyres. To obtain this incredible drift it took 18 hours of tests divided into five days of permanence, with temperatures constantly below zero. The drift loop was swept 39 times during the 15 minutes and 58 seconds of its record-breaking run, hitting a top speed of 48.69km/h and traveling at 31.64km/h at its slowest point.
The model used for the feat was fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels, Däckproffsen 245/35-R20 tires (supplied by Michelin) on the front with 600 5mm studs. At the rear Nokian Hakkapelitta 255/45-R20 tires with 300 2mm studs. Richard Meaden is delighted with the record achieved with the Skoda brand: “I’m really proud to be part of a team that has broken another record after 12 years. Who would have believed that it was possible to drift on ice with an electric car? This shows how the car world is changing and how exciting it is“.
