MotoGP is roaring again with the Shakedown in Sepang for testers and rookies. Twists and turns already in the first day of activity.
On this Sunday night/morning (Malay time) the first day of Shakedowns in Sepang. Namely, three days of testing MotoGP dedicated to test riders and beginners, in this case only Augusto Fernandez. A very first day of work intense for all the various manufacturers and their respective testers, without live timing official but with the times communicated only later. The ranking sees one of three boys Yamaha in command, best time ahead of rookie Fernandez. Or maybe not? Indeed, it is rumored that someone without device to record the time, did even better.
Shakedown at Yamaha… Or KTM?
We are talking about Dani Pedrosa. In fact, the luxury test driver of the Austrian brand has left room for the novelty Jonas Folger, freshly announced as the third KTM tester. In fact, only the German appeared in the timesheets, while the Spanish didn’t put a transponder. At the end of the day so it was Cal CrutchlowYamaha test rider, to place the time of reference of 2:01.146 on this Shakedown Sunday, followed by the rookie Augusto Fernandez. Yet it seems he is not the improve absolutely. In fact, we need to look at Pedrosa, as said tester without a transponder on day-1 at Sepang. His unofficial time it would be 2:00:4, so much better than Crutchlow! Apparently the Spanish test driver, in addition to collect data important in this Shakedown, he’s starting to prepare for the next wild card as well Spanish GP… An appointment already eagerly awaited also by the MotoGP grid.
Super start in Sepang
A first day that sends other very encouraging signals at home KTM. The stated goals are many ambitious, today’s work of Pedrosa and the new entry Folger therefore becomes precious. But of course you have to confront with the other builders present in the Shakedown. From Yamaha that is doing everything to please its ace Fabio Quartararo: the 330 km/h of Cal Crutchlow, three more than the 2022 tests in Sepang, are decidedly positive news! But we also point out Lorenzo Savadori at work with six Aprilias, Michael Pirro which instead at the moment is polishing the aerodynamic aspect of the Ducati Desmosedici. So many tests finally for Stefan Bradlin charge of redirecting the Honda RC-V on the right track to facilitate the task a Marc Marquez. It will be another two intense days, on a track difficult like the one at Sepang, and not just for the layout. But how early 2023 it’s not bad.
