The 2023 Cadillac XT6 luxury crossover can tow a fair amount of weight, and Cadillac Society is breaking down its towing capacity below.
Let’s review the mechanical specifications of the XT6 first. Riding on the marque’s luxury C1 platform, the 2023 Cadillac XT6 is offered with two petrol engine options in the US market. The first is a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production designation LGX), with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. This machine is standard on Premium Luxury and Sport models and can be identified by the 400 logo on the lift door.
Meanwhile, the base Luxury model features a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), which produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This model wears the 350T badge on the liftgate. Both engines bolt to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Production of the XT6 took place at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee for the North American market.
Moving closer to the towing conversation, the 2023 Cadillac XT6 may be equipped with the optional Smart Towing Package (production code V92), which includes the following equipment (relevant production codes are listed in brackets):
- Obstacle Guide (CTT)
- Hitch Guide with Hitch View Hitch (PZ8)
- hitch
- Barrier cover
- Seven-wire trailer harness
- 170-amp Alternator (Premium Luxury Only) (KW7)
- Heavy duty cooling system (Premium Luxury only) (V08)
It’s worth noting that a 170 amp alternator and heavy-duty cooling system are standard on the 2023 Cadillac XT6 Sport. Also, the Smart Towing Package is only available for the XT6 Premium Luxury and Sport trims, and is not available with the base Luxury trim.
Well, with all that in mind, the following table shows the towing capacities of the 2023 Cadillac XT6.
Model | Drive chain | Turbocharger 2.0L I4 LSY | 3.6L V6 LGX | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Axle Ratio | Max Trailer Weight(lbs/kg) | Axle Ratio | Max Trailer Weight(lbs/kg) | ||
Luxury | FWD | 3.47 | 1,000 / 454 | – | – |
Luxury | AWD | 3.47 | 1,000 / 454 | – | – |
Premium Luxury | FWD | – | – | 3.47 | 1,000 / 454 |
Premium Luxury with the V921 | FWD | – | – | 3.49 | 4,000 / 1,814 |
Premium Luxury | AWD | – | – | 3.47 | 1,000 / 454 |
Premium Luxury with the V921 | AWD | – | – | 3.49 | 4,000 / 1,814 |

Sports with V921 | AWD | – | – | 3.49 | 4,000 / 1,814 |
- Optional Smart Crane Package (RPO code V92)
Here, we see that the towing capacity for the 2023 Cadillac XT6 when not equipped with the Smart Towing Package is a relatively measly 1,000 pounds. However, opting for the Smart Towing Package on the Premium Luxury or Sport trim significantly increases the luxury crossover’s towing capacity to 4,000 pounds.
