The Replacement of the Lamborghini Aventador Peeked at the Six Ends of the Muffler

Lamborghini Aventador is about to say goodbye. The automaker confirmed in 2021 that Ultimae will be the last hurray for the brand’s naturally aspirated V12 engine. The company is working on a replacement for the Aventador, and a new video captures a partially camouflaged example from testing.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed earlier this month that the car will feature an electrified V12. The spy shots also reveal the car’s plug-in powertrain. New interior photos last week reveal the car’s digital instrument display showing the prototype in “hybrid” mode. It will also have an all-electric mode, with the V12 coming with an 8,500 rpm redline.

The new video from Varryx’s YouTube channel isn’t as revealing as the pictures, but the high voltage yellow stickers on the rear fender and car fascia are easy to spot. The new Lamborghini will arrive with a new V12 engine behind the cabin, which will draw air through a large intake behind the door, which was not seen on this test vehicle, which looks mostly like the current Aventador SVJ.

The car will retain Lamborghini’s iconic wedge shape, with the prototype featuring six exhaust outlets at the rear. This is not a new style trend, as the two larger individual exhaust outlets below the four are fake. Previous spy shots showed a successor with only four exhaust pipes above the rear fascia.

This test vehicle doesn’t appear to wear much of the new sheet metal. The company’s new supercar will have a unique design, which the automaker has hidden under camouflage in other prototypes we’ve seen. Inside, it looks like the car will have a dual-screen setup on the center console, possibly separating the climate control from the infotainment panel.

Lamborghini will reveal a replacement for the Aventador in late March 2023, which isn’t too far off, officially ending the current car’s nearly 12-year run. We expect to see more electrified supercars in the coming months, with Lamborghini likely to kick off a teaser campaign sooner rather than later. The Aventador successor will set the stage for the company’s next actions.
