In practice, the payment of the European car tax will be linked to the actual kilometers traveled over the 12 months. Practically, each car owner will pay a fixed 20 euro share on the car tax. At this figure lump sum figures will be added based on the actual kilometers travelled. Those who use the car less, therefore, will pay a considerably lower figure than “routine” motorists.
This European proposal was also designed for to discourage the use of the car and to reduce the number of emissions into the environment. Making the “annoying” car tax pay less could be the right solution to have the personal car used only in case of real need.
