The 2023 Cadillac XT5 is the seventh model year of the current first-generation model. After receiving several requests, Cadillac Society now breaking down the towing capacity of that luxury crossover.
First, let’s take a look at the 2023 Cadillac XT5’s powertrain lineup. First up is the 2.0L turbocharged (production code LSY) engine that comes standard on the Luxury (base) and Premium Luxury trims, producing 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This model wears the 350T badge on the lift door.
Meanwhile, the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 (production code LGX) is optional in the Premium Luxury trim and comes standard on the Sport model. The atmospheric six is rated for 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. This model features the 400 badge on the back. Both engines pair with Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
Additionally, we should note that, when equipped with the optional Tow Package (production code V92), the XT5’s tow rating increases significantly. Offered only on Premium Luxury and Sport models, the package includes the following content (relevant production codes are listed in brackets):
- Obstacle Guide (CTT)
- Hitch Guide with Hitch View Hitch (PZ8)
- hitch
- Barrier cover
- Seven-wire trailer harness
- 170-amp Alternator (Premium Luxury Only) (KW7)
- Heavy duty cooling system (Premium Luxury only, as standard on Sport) (V08)
