There is some good news that has to do with car tax, which from now on can only be paid for €20.
Only a few lucky drivers who are part of are eligible for this discount a certain category.
The car tax is the tax most hated by all Italian motorists, because it is mandatory, it is high and it is paid annually regardless of the use of the vehicle.
If the insurance is paid only on cars and in general on all vehicles circulating on the road, car tax must be paid even if the owned vehicles remain stationary in the driveway or in the garage of the house.
The cost of the car tax
The cost of the car tax varies according to the vehicle and the region to which it belongs. In any case, for any motorist or vehicle owner it is a real condemnation. Some categories nothey do not have to pay it, being exempt.
For example, the owners of vintage cars, the disabled or accompanying persons and all those who have purchased latest generation hybrid or electric vehicles are exempt.
In particular, these last two categories are exempt from paying the car tax for 3 or 5 years according to the Region of residence. In some, for example in Lombardy, the exemption is valid for life.
What happened in Portugal and what could change in Italy soon
For all other motorists who do not benefit from the exemption, however, here is some good news, directly from the European Union. We are talking about the single discount on the road tax, which comes as a godsend, a real 360° turning point in a period of profound crisis in which everything has a higher cost.
The European Commission has approved new rules that allow you to pay the €20 car tax as in Portugal. To pay such a low amount are only those who have vehicles with zero CO2 emissions.
The decision came first in Portugal many months ago. Those who have zero-emission cars that don’t pollute the atmosphere pay much less than normal.
In this case the car tax to be paid is only €28. An honest figure compared to the hundreds of euros that have reduced hundreds of motorists in difficulty to poverty every year.
People are happy because not only do they pay very little, but CO2 emissions into the atmosphere have also been reduced by 10%. An important milestone for the future.
