Lancia is working to revitalize its brand. The latest step in this process is updating the Ypsilon hatchback with improved technology.

Ypsilon is available in the new exterior color Dew Green. The Silver model has black accents on the grille, lower bumper and spoiler.

Inside, there is now a blue finish on the dashboard and door panels. Multi-chrome green accents are found on the gear shift, steering wheel and air vent frame. The seat upholstery uses Seaqual Thread, which comes from recycled plastic from the Mediterranean Sea. The 7.0-inch infotainment screen gains support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The wireless charger is at the base of the center console.

The Ypsilon is available with a mild hybrid 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine producing 68 horsepower (51 kilowatts). There are also power plants that use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Ypsilon is quite popular in its home country. The hatchback is the second best-selling vehicle in Italy in 2022. The model also has a market share of 15.3 percent, which is the best.

Lancia has a 10 year plan starting in 2024 to take the brand into the future. Things started with the next-gen Ypsilon getting the range of electrified powertrains. The company is also gearing up to launch a new crossover that might revive the Aurelia name. In 2028, the Delta returns as what the automaker calls a “sculpted, muscular car with geometric lines.”

Lancia will start introducing EVs in 2026. The plan is to become an electric-only brand in 2028.

In late 2022, Lancia debuted the Pu+Ra Zero concept to look at the brand’s future design direction. The aim was to evoke classic models in a modern way, including soft shapes from Aurelia and Flaminia and angular elements from Stratos and Delta.

The company also wants a bigger presence outside of Italy. As part of their grand plan, they hired a new brand manager for France, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
