2024 Skoda Scala And Kamiq Facelifts Teased Before Double Debut Aug. 1

Having been around since 2019, Scala and Kamiq are slated for mid-cycle updates. Skoda will launch the slightly revised hatchback and crossover in two weeks time by holding a double premiere on August 1. Meanwhile, a few teasers give us a taste of what to expect from the facelifted car. Both get slimmer headlamps with a new look, redesigned bumpers, fresher wheel designs and an updated corporate font for the tailgate lettering.

We don’t expect major changes on the inside where Skoda Skoda is likely to make subtle changes to echo the latest Fabia supermini. Perhaps we’ll be given a glimpse of the revised cabin until the world premiere at the start of next month. Under the hood, expect the familiar three-cylinder 1.0 TSI and four-cylinder 1.5 TSI engines with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It will be interesting to see if TDI will stay in the lineup given how automakers active in the EU market are moving away from small cars with diesel engines.

Kamiq is Skoda’s second best-selling car (after Octavia) in 2022 with 96,300 units delivered to customers. However, this figure also takes into account the slightly different Kamiq that is manufactured and sold in China by local joint venture SAIC-VW. As for the Scala, the five-door hatchback was far less popular, with the Czech automaker selling 39,500 units of its internal rival Volkswagen Golf.

Skoda is keeping busy throughout 2023 by delivering Laurin & Klement versions of the superior Enyaq electric SUV and teasing no fewer than six EVs all set to hit the market in 2026. Meanwhile, the next-generation Kodiaq and Superb will be unveiled at separate events this fall. . In 2024, the Octavia will undergo a facelift, while the release of the new Fabia Combi has been abandoned due to stricter emissions regulations.

To increase its global exposure, the Mladá Boleslav brand entered the Vietnam market in collaboration with Thanh Cong Motor Vietnam (TC Motor). In the first phase, cars are imported from Europe, but from next year, local assembly of the Slavic hatchback and Kushaq crossover will start at the factory in Quảng Ninh province using the CKD kit.
