Axel Bassani and Dominique Aegerter didn’t hold back in the Superbike Race 2 at Assen. Also with a “maneuver” that arouses the joke of the Italian.
He is not particularly satisfied with his seasonal debut. Axel Bassani he was aiming for the podium in this Superbike 2023 start, but at the moment he has only “caressed” that result. In fact, in the first two rounds of the year he scored two fourth places in the six races on the scoresheet, in Assen the maximum was a double P5 between Race 1 and Race 2. Indeed, in the second race of the weekend Superbikes he had to give up 4th place to the benefit of Dominique Aegerter. For the occasion there is one joke which recalls a famous episode between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez…
Superbikes 2023
We can talk about ‘lights and shadows’, even if Axel Bassani is already showing one constancy not recently. The rider from Feltre finished as the best private rider of the 2022 Superbike season, himself trophy who also took the Motocorsa team. Last year Bassani finished 7th in the championship standings, a result obtained thanks to three ‘jewels‘ in particular. In fact, the Ducati Motocorsa standard bearer took three placements on the podium, results that he can’t wait to repeat again this season. Appointment postponed for now: in Australia went 5-9-4 in the three games played, a Mandalika scores the hat-trick 4-5-8 in the races held on the Indonesian track. To Assen here is the first European event of the 2023 Superbike World Championship, but Bassani fails to find the winning twist to take the podium. On the contrary, in Race 2 he tries a maneuver “à la Rossi-Marquez”, but does not pay.
The dig
Axel Bassani was among the fighting protagonists of the Superbike weekend at TT Circuit Assen. He tried with all his strength, but that didn’t come podium in which he hoped so much. In the end the first ones escaped, the battle was for the 4th place between the Ducati standard bearer and Dominique Aegerter, with a “off-piste” which recalls a particular and much discussed episode in MotoGP. “We got to the last chicane, we touched and I went straight” said Axel Bassani. There is also a joke on the subject: “I tried to to copy Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez, but I’m not Valentine! The penalty is just.” The images above clearly explain the unsuccessful attempt. “I tried to stay ahead of Dominique [Aegerter]but he did better than me in the last three laps.” Little changes, given that Bassani confirms himself as one of the best in current Superbike. Only one is missing small stepto figure out which one, to really become the protagonist.
